Why is Quesnay running this program?
Quesnay has 7 years of experience running innovation competitions in industries including financial services, insurance, media, telecom, and automotive. We observed fewer women-led startups applying to the competitions we ran and the distinct lack of representation and startup funding among women in the industries we work in. Although there’s been some progress over the past year, there is room for much improvement—in 2018, venture capitalists invested $109.36 billion in companies with all-male founders while women received just $2.88 billion in venture capital money. We launched, and continue to run, the Female Founders in Tech program to help solve this problem.
Launched in 2017, the Female Founders in Tech program identifies and evaluates innovative technology solutions and unique talent for corporations while also providing access to capital, mentorship, and partnership opportunities to startups.
In 18 months we have seen leading companies participate as sponsors, over 300 startups register from 42 countries, 250 industry experts participate as judges and mentors, and a larger ecosystem of innovators spread the word on the program. Encouraged by this momentum, we are going bigger in 2019 with ongoing tracks in InsurTech and FinTech and a new track in Mobility.
